Privacy Policy

Forestry Technologies ("we," "us," or "our") built the FT Manager mobile application to allow company managers and administrators to oversee field operations, view tract maps, and manage work sessions recorded by field operators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

By using FT Manager, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Name and email address
Company name and contact details (provided by your organization)
Role and access permissions within your organization

Location Data

FT Manager may request your device's location solely to show your current position on the map view, helping you orient yourself relative to tracts in the field.
Location is accessed only while the app is open and in the foreground — it is never collected in the background.
Your device location is not recorded, stored, or transmitted to our servers. It is used only locally within the map display.
Granting location permission is optional. The app is fully functional without it.

Usage Data

The app retrieves tract maps, work session records, and operator data from your organization's account in order to display them.
No additional analytics or usage telemetry is collected by this app.

Device Information

Device model, platform (Android or iOS), and app version (used for troubleshooting and compatibility).

2. How We Use Your Information

To authenticate you and provide access to your organization's ForestTrack account
To display tract maps, work session history, and operator coverage data
To allow you to manage tracts and sessions on behalf of your organization
To improve app performance and troubleshoot issues

We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.

3. Location Data — Important Details

FT Manager is a management and oversight tool, not a field tracking application. It does not run continuous GPS sessions, does not operate a background location service, and does not record your movement.

Optional "show my location" feature: If you grant location permission, the map may display a blue dot indicating your current position. This is processed entirely on your device.
No background collection: Location is never accessed when the app is in the background or closed.
No storage or transmission: Your device's location is never sent to or stored on our servers.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your organization's tract, session, and operator data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure) in the United States.
All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted over HTTPS.
Access is protected by JWT authentication tokens with automatic expiration.
No sensitive operational data is stored persistently on your device beyond your login session.
We retain account and organizational data as long as your organization's account is active, or as required by applicable law.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:

Within your organization: Data you view or modify is shared within your organization's ForestTrack account as appropriate to your role.
Service providers: We use Microsoft Azure to host and store data. Azure's privacy practices are governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

6. Children's Privacy

FT Manager is intended for use by business professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Access and correction: Contact your organization's administrator or us directly to review or correct your account information.
Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.
Location permissions: You may grant or revoke location permission at any time through your device settings. Revoking it does not affect any core app functionality.
California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale (we do not sell data).

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
