- To improve app performance and troubleshoot issues
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.
3. Location Data — Important Details
ForestTrack collects precise location data while a tracking session is running. This is the core function of the app — recording the path of field equipment across a tract of land.
- Foreground use: GPS is active when the app is open and a session is in progress.
- Background use: On Android, a foreground service keeps GPS active when the device screen is off during an active session. A persistent notification is displayed whenever background location is in use.
- No passive collection: GPS is never collected when no session is active.
Location data is transmitted to your organization's secure cloud account and is accessible only to authorized users within your organization.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (Microsoft Azure) in the United States.
- All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections.
- Access is protected by JWT authentication tokens with automatic expiration.
- Local data on the device is stored in an encrypted SQLite database within the app's private storage.
- We retain session and GPS data as long as your organization's account is active, or as required by applicable law.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. Data may be shared only in these limited circumstances:
- Within your organization: All data collected by field operators is visible to your organization's administrators through the web portal.
- Service providers: We use Microsoft Azure to host and store data. Azure's privacy practices are governed by Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
6. Children's Privacy
ForestTrack is intended for use by business professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- Access and correction: Contact your organization's administrator to review or correct your account information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below. Your organization's administrator may also delete your account from the portal.
- Location permissions: You may revoke location permissions at any time through your device settings, though this will prevent active session tracking.
- California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of sale (we do not sell data).
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
